Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The new unit discussed WWI. Before reading, we talked for a while about the long term developments in Europe that led to the outbreak of WWI. I wanted him to see the connections of everything we had been learning and how it contributed to this massive war. He and I spent the majority of this session working through the comprehension questions that guided us through the reading. We finished the packet and had extra time to discuss important topics relevant to WWI."
"Today we covered the dynastic and international conflicts of the 18th century, the Industrial Revolution, the later incarnations of the Enlightenment, the American and French Revolutions, and the beginning of Romanticism. I assigned the student some homework, research on the Napoleonic period and the conservative backlash of 1815, as well as the rise of nationalism and liberalism."
"General review in prep for forthcoming test. Focused on timeline, "isms," WWI, 1800s revolutions and nation state building, etc. Seeing a lot more confidence with the material since last week, likely as a result of the practice tests she took last week"
"Worked on his persuasive essay for history on the Civil War. He hammered out about three of five paragraphs. Still needs an introduction and conclusion which we will work on next time."
"Continued reviewing Civil War info for history as well as Spanish vocabulary and verb conjugation."
"We are still reviewing for a test on ancient civilizations that the student will be taking sometime this week. There is a lot of detail to cover. I am making simpler study guides for her and word associations so that she can remember the 13 Egyptian gods and goddesses she must memorize, as well as all of the pharaohs in order of ascendance."
