Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed her homework, and then worked on problems she had trouble setting up. We used the hinge theorem and its converse. We also started working on her review packet for the test, focusing on proofs which use the triangle inequality theorems and the hinge/hinge converse theorems."
"We specifically reviewed the geometry of the rhombus and trapezoid. We computed the volume of the figures, the lengths of the sides, and the angles of the corners. He seemed to have a good handle on the concepts and I look forward to quizzing him on the concepts during our next session."
"The student seemed to retain all the material we covered on our previous session as he was able to do the problems I had assigned on his own. We continued working on the study guide and he seems to understand it all a lot better."
"The student and I reviewed a little for her quiz over the first part of chapter 5 and then looked forward into the rest of chapter 5 which covered indirect proofs (proofs by contradiction). We talked about the thought process behind a proof by contradiction and went through some example problems. She picked up the concept with very little trouble."
"We covered the information that will be on his test: how to solve for lengths and angles of right triangles, the proper use of the law of sine and cosine, composite triangles and using the geometric mean."
"The student and I went over her practice test. Proofs are very challenging to her so we went over several practice proofs from her old notes and quizzes, looking for patterns to see which theorems were used and in which order. We also discussed her teacher's teaching style."
"The student has continued to work hard in her Honor's Geometry course. She has improved in her use of her terminology. Today we reviewed isosceles triangles and their application in proofs."
"Completed homework assignment. More proof writing using converse statements to postulates. Reviewed for tomorrows quiz."
"We covered theorems on quadrilaterals. The student had specific questions that he needed answered which means that he has a keen grasp of the material"
"Reviewed for test. We finished his study guide with relative ease. Afterwards, we reviewed vocabulary as well as proofing postulates and theorems."
"The student and I worked almost solely on homework during the session, with a little bit of clarification on previous topics she had trouble fully understanding. We initially worked with coplanar/collinear concepts on a review she had, and we eventually moved to homework. We also went over the difference between angle addition theorem (part 2) and the definition of supplemental angles. Her homework was over the distance formula on a coordinate plane (basic to intermediate), all the way to the formula for circles. She's so smart and driven - I was immediately taken aback!"
"The student and I worked on a worksheet that she was assigned for homework on constructing angles using a compass. She was very good at the material and quickly picked up on the things that she had questions on. She seems to be very good at knowing when to use the various things she has learned to solve the problems."
