Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this class we reviewed some parts we saw in the first class, and continue learning the use of the verb "estar" in different situations. He learned more vocabulary and the use of "encima de" (over or on) and "debajo de" (under). Progress achieved: He knows the use of the verb "ser and estar", which are very important in Spanish."
"We did some practice listening dialogues from a practice book. Her listening skills are improving, sometimes she has to listen to the dialogue twice to get every question correct. She says as long as she pays attention and doesn't tune out, she can understand most. Then we practiced reading comprehensions with multiple choice questions from the practice book. I showed her some picture cues and she had to explain what was happening and say a story in Spanish. She also answered any questions I had about the picture. Her speaking is progressing well!"
"This week we went over the calendar, including months of the year and days of the week. They seemed to enjoy what we were going over, and I included a song for this lesson."
"We went over different verbs (regular, irregular verbs e-ie, o-ue, and u-ue), weather, usage of tener, different tener phrases, and regular vocabulary. I left lots of vocabulary and verbs to memorize."
"We reviewed common phrases and words in Spanish. Examples: common household words, fruits, and ordering at a restaurant. The students practiced speaking to each other. They will create notecards to review vocabulary."
"The student and I reviewed the ABCs, and then I had him spell simple English words in French, which he did very well. We went over numbers and colors (including any possible agreements), and then we ended with reviewing the days of the week. We are working on both written and oral skills in our sessions, and he is doing quite well already for only having had four sessions thus far. We will review these same concepts in our next session, as we are taking it slow and steady."
