Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We had a super productive session going over an old Math assessment test together. He answered almost every question correctly by following prompts. Probability did trip him up -he struggled to understand the difference between "impossible" and "not likely". We cut up some pieces of paper and tried our own game of probability, which seemed to make more sense to him once he was able to do it himself."
"The student was a day ahead in most of her homework, so I just got acquainted with her classes and the type of work she'll be doing this year. We took a look at all of her syllabi as well as her completed algebra and physics homework."
"The student's main concern was a newly-assigned worksheet over rate of change, so completing that work was our focus for this session. After I explained to him the concept of a derivative (and thus, the slope of a line) as the rate of change, Christian had little trouble interpreting the questions, and no trouble at all calculating the necessary derivatives. His expression simplification is improving as well."
"We went over the answer code the professor gave from the first homework and discussed how the same results can be achieved through different commands. Then we looked at the new homework assignment on frequency histograms, density histograms, and the normal curve and z transformations."
"-We did fourth grade math, including multiple choice, word problems, fractions, line plotting, and short answers from a packet provided. -The kids are having an easier time with the work and not melting or shutting down. -They still struggle with"
"We went through all of the student's problems which she had previously completed. We also went to work on the data problems for her to complete. We went through how to get the data sets and what the data sets should look like. Finally we discussed the precepts of the Solow-Swan model--what it predicts and how her data analysis actually showed the prediction."
