Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Mathematics are to be covered on the SAT test as well as help with strategies for decoding word problems."
"This was our final session. First, we reviewed the sections the student had done in advance of this appointment: one critical reading and one writing. He had skipped one vocabulary question and one passage question and had answered one other passage question incorrectly, so we went over those three questions. He aced the writing section, which I don't think he has done before. After reviewing, we did more critical reading and writing work together, followed by some especially difficult math questions, only a few of which he had trouble with. We closed the session by creating an individual study plan which he can use between now and the first time he decides to take the real test. I gave him a plan for work which will carry him through the summer so his skills do not become rusty from disuse. In particular, I emphasized the importance of doing regular exercises to retain the new vocabulary he has learned so that it does not dissipate from his memory."
"We worked on the writing section of the book. We also focused on rewriting sentences with passive verbs and describing abstract concepts. Homework is a full length practice test."
