"My strengths lie in verbal expression, although I have a background in science (especially biology) as well. My specialty is helping to improve language/reading scores and writing/editing skills, as my perfect scores in the verbal portions of the SAT and the GRE demonstrate. I have lived/studied in France for a year, and am extremely proficient in the language."

"My ultimate goal with students is to make a connection with them and bring alive pre-algebra, phonics, the questioning mechanics of the SAT - whatever the student is learning. When a connection is made, we can bridge the gaps and make learning fun and lasting. Everyone can be a math person, everyone can love grammar, everyone can write a stellar paper. Every student is different, and every student can achieve success."

"I went to French-speaking Africa in college to pursue my interests in culture and language. I think that having an excellent command of language (both native and foreign) is important to a fulfilling life. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to show my students how language can be both fun and relevant to everyday life. I am also pursuing my Master's degree in Linguistics. In my free time, I love to read good books, write stories, play volleyball, travel the world, and eat delicious food! I also love talking with my friends (in any language), playing board games and watching movies.." ...

"I'm also certified fluent in both French and Spanish and spent last semester in Paris, France. I'm a fun, engaging teacher with a dynamic personal energy, and one of my greatest strengths is generating enthusiasm in even the most reluctant students. I don't see why grammar lessons can't be games and punctuation worksheets can't make you laugh! I understand how discouraging it can be to struggle with reading or writing at any age, and my personal objective is to give students the tools they need to feel confident and proud of their work. In my spare time, I love reading, running, and spending time with my family.." ...

"I loved teaching and working with students and think learning should always be engaging and fun. Going to a university like Wash U with an emphasis on liberal arts coursework taught me the importance of a well-rounded education so although I love research and hope to pursue my graduate studies in epidemiology someday; I am also passionate about the arts, music, and literature as well. While test scores are important, helping students discover the excitement of academic passion and intellectual curiosity is one of the greatest gifts you can give!." ...

"From my puzzled first grade classmates that found multiplication and fractions confusing to college students that needed help with calculus. In general I love to help my students out of any confusion, but I take a special kind of gratification in helping people overcome their struggles with mathematics. I am qualified to tutor in many branches of mathematics, chemistry, beginning French, and Spanish. My strengths as a tutor are my undying patience, my ability to single out what is causing confusion, and the joy I get from knowing that my student will no longer dread his or her next math period. On my off time I enjoy learning anything I ...

" The moments when a student finally understands, when everything clicks for them so that they could do it for themselves, is extremely rewarding. It is my belief that a tutor’s goal is not only to help students learn the material they are having trouble with but to help them learn the best ways for them to learn: this skill can help them throughout life. I enjoy working with students of all ages and have had experience tutoring 5th grade students to graduate school students. I specialize in liberal arts, particularly grammar and writing, literature, government, history and French." ...

"
My favorite aspect of the language learning process is conversation, though I will be just as happy to work through grammar issues. What I have appreciated most in language classes and hope to reproduce in tutoring/my own teaching is a feeling of comfort. Learning a foreign language can be daunting and I know from first-hand experience how quickly it is to be uncomfortable in a second language.
Apart from Frenchifying my corner of the world, I really enjoy biking, drawing, and being involved at my church."
