Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over various examples from the geometry and measurement sections of the SAT Math. We covered practice problems from various online sources and her book."
"We met at and continued our work with circles. We also began to do some problems concerning sequences and probability."
"Reviewed test results to understand student's strengths and weaknesses. Focus areas 1) understanding/analysis of literary texts and 2) understanding/analysis of informational texts. The student was assigned a Mini-Test to provide written answers to the questions. The student was extremely pleasant and very good mannered. He seems excited about improving his academic skills and about the tutoring session."
"In our last session, the student and I covered a general overview of the test and discussed more test-taking strategies. We focused on how much time to spend on questions in each section, and I had him copy down the times. He's as prepared as he could be for the test, and I expect him to do substantially better than he would have prior to preparation. Good luck!"
"The student and I reviewed English and reading. She's come a long way in three sessions, and I am encouraged by her progress. We will meet again this week to finalize preparations for her upcoming test on Friday."
"The student and I worked on the questions she missed from the science and grammar sections that she completed for homework. She scored a 27 in science. She is great at analyzing graphs, data, and comparing/contrasting scientists' different perspectives. She is also knowledgeable about common grammar concepts. Next, we worked together on the reading and science sections of the ACT practice test. We focused on finding evidence from the passages and reasoning. For homework, I recommend that she finish the grammar, reading, and science sections from the practice test."
"The student and I reviewed her essay sample and I gave her tips on improving her essay (providing more in depth examples, really explaining how examples tie back to argument, thinking about different perspectives to arguments, and diversifying example sources). We also summarized strategies for tough problems and utilized them in example problem sets. I have noticed in the last few sessions that she has been catching mistakes and presenting better strategic plans for solving problems more and more!"
"Yesterday the student and I continued his work on SAT practice tests with a focus on not relying too much on mental math, and forcing him to use his scrap paper to solve problems that might lead to mistakes if attempted to do all in his head. He is very good at being able to solve many problems this way."
"I covered with the student questions related to the Quantitative and Verbal sections of GRE. In Quantitative I covered questions related to algebraic fractions, percentage, rate-time-distance and exponents. In Verbal we attempted to do a reading comprehension."
"The student and I continued with ACT prep. He was able to order the book I suggested, and we began working from that."
"The student and I reviewed he sections she did for homework. She did very well on the 3 sections and we went over any questions she had or any questions she wanted to revisit to talk about strategy and saving time. We also practiced reading, math, and more writing. She has learned and is incorporating the strategies we have talked about in various sections."
"I gave the student feedback based on the sections which she completed as homework. We spent most of the time working on math. After the math section, we reviewed a science section as well. For the last thirty minutes of the session, she showed me the passage from Hamlet that she was analyzing and we worked through the passage together."
