Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed geometric and algebraic series, trigonometric identities, optimization and induction. Good, solid progress was made."
"We went over applications involving angles and radians. By the end of the session, the student was able to solve the problems correctly."
"We covered how to graph the 6 basic trig functions. We went over the parameters and usage of each function and how they correspond to the Unit Circle."
"We reviewed the student's current standings in class and previous subjects covered with her other tutor. We discussed reasons for logarithmic and exponential functions before investigating their construction and properties. She pointed out it's been a slow week in class, so the rest of the time we looked into math ideas she was curious about and wanted guidance in."
"We went over simplifying expressions with negative exponents, word problems with percent increases and decreases, and direct vs. inverse relationships. The student understood the concepts, so I provided additional methods to make his calculations simpler, such as rewriting fractions before removing negative exponents, and finding the value after a percent increase/decrease in one step."
"The student is having her big exam coming up tomorrow. So, we had an extra session today to review everything she has learned in this quarter. She has a package online from her school to work on, which basically covered everything. We started off by having me help check her work on some questions that she already had finished by herself. Then, we continued to work on everything else. By the end of the session, she felt much more confident and felt that she is ready for the exam. She just needed help to refresh her memory on small stuff so the session went really well!"
