Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was my first session with the student. We reviewed some basic geometry proofs, and she said the session was quite helpful."
"I met with the student today and we worked on some geometry. She had some questions about CPCTC and how to use it/ get to it. We practiced some proofs involving triangles and congruence."
"We worked on the student's homework tonight, reviewing how to graph a line and parabola, we also worked with distance, rate and time problems, and reviewed how to find the average."
"During my first meeting with this student, I helped her review the basic concepts of points, lines and planes, as well as how these three figures can interact. Working from a practice quiz to prepare for an upcoming exam, she told me that she had particularly been having trouble solving problems where she had to find the lengths of adjacent line segments, so I taught her to set up these problems so that they resembled the algebra work she'd done in previous classes. When she was confident with these problems, we reviewed the labelling of lines, planes and rays, and straightened out some questions she had between the definitions of collinear and coplanar. At the end of our session, she was competently solving each type of problem that will feature on her exam, and seemed far more confident than she had when we began."
"We went over properties of parallel lines with a transversal, and the student seemed to understand it. My goal in the next few sessions is going to be to get the student thinking in a way that makes geometry easier to understand."
"We covered proofs mostly, and did a little bit on deductive reasoning and conditional statements. She is still challenged a bit with proofs. She understands the basics of them, but hasn't quite figured out how to put all the elements together yet. I'm confident with some extra practice she will be doing proofs without problem."
