Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We specifically covered reading from z-score tables, using the mean and standard deviation to determine the probabilities of an event, understanding the normal distributions, and standard normal distributions. The student's attitude was positive and well receptive to all the material reviewed. I included the strategy of drawing the picture of the problem in order to determine when to subtract the value from 1 or to add it to 0.5. Overall, it was a great session; the student was understanding and receptive to learning the material!"
"In this session, the student and I worked on a review of homework problems dealing with hyperbolas. The student was mostly able to work on the problems with a bit of guidance. In this case, because she recently had a test, there was not much go over. The student is very able to tackle these problems."
"Today, we covered real life applications of trigonometry. We used law of cosines and law of sines to find the measurements of distances traveled. We also found the direction and magnitude of resultant vectors. Once again, we added all the horizontal components together and all the vertical components together. Then, we found the angle by using the tangent function."
"The student and I worked on all topics in chapter 5. Topics include solving triangles using law of sines, law of cosines, and multiple other methods. He seemed more comfortable than Thursday and should do great on his test as long as he memorizes the formulas beforehand."
"We covered binomial theorem and Pascal's triangle. The student needed help with imaginary numbers. Her attitude was positive. The strategy I included was showing her an example and then having her work out the problems on her own."
"We reviewed what we had done so far from equations of conics to use of the determinant to describe a conic. As usual, the student had very little trouble with the conceptual aspects of the material, with minimal mechanical mistakes when manipulating equations."
