Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we reviewed rotations, looking at 90 degrees in both directions and 180 degrees. The student wrote down the rules he developed on how to do each type, as well as a mnemonic device to remember how to do each one when it comes time for his exam. This is in light of working on focusing and persevering independently. We also reviewed functions from his test prep book for his upcoming state test. He has a set of rotation problems to finish before our next session."
"We completed the study guide for the student's quiz next week. Topics for the quiz include simplifying rational expressions, polygons and angles, number lines, and unit conversion. He still needs assistance to complete some of the problems, but he is getting better understanding the material. We will continue to study these concepts next week so he will be adequately prepared for the quiz."
"The student and I reviewed the material he was learning in school this week, basic linear equations. By the end of the lesson, he had a good understanding of the material. His biggest improvement was figuring out the equation of a line from two given points. I wrote down individual steps for him to know how to do this and by following the steps, he was able to grasp the concepts entirely. ."
"The student and I prepared for her trig exam, which will be next Friday. She has a lot of time to prepare which is helpful. We worked on the items that were from the beginning of the year."
"The student and I worked on her limit assignment, looking at way to determine limits when an indeterminate answer was found at first. We talked about the three main ways to deal with zeros in denominators, and she was more than able to answer the questions. She was a little puzzled with graphing a piecewise function, but was able to work her way through and complete the assignment. She did very well, even saying that she felt it was "easy" at the end!"
"Tonight we went over her practice test and she did very well. There were only a few things to comment on with special cases and she was confident in her work."
