"The student worked through a practice math test. After I graded it, we worked through what she got wrong or did not how to answer. She corrected answered over 2/3 of the questions and could see where she went wrong. The questions she did not answer she seemed to pick up quickly. I advised her to take at least another practice test before we meet again."
"We practiced his current lesson in multiplying by powers of 10. We covered material for his upcoming exam and he appears to be prepped for it. We then continued to work on our math challenge problems involving geometric functions."
"The student completed her homework, which involved solving for the equation of a lined using 2 points. She also had to find equations for parallel and perpendicular lines. She did not have the assignment for the next section so we went over notes together and completed a couple practice problems for each type of problems. The new section covered what is a function and also finding the equation for a function."
"This session, we worked the student's assignment covering evaluation of convergence/divergence of integrals using the Direct Comparison Test and Limit Comparison Test. He was able to identify the appropriate comparison function every time. I think he understands the concept well enough."
"Today we covered another math worksheet with word problems. The student appeared to be more proficient with her multiplication tables but was still struggling with her sixes, sevens and eights, which she will be working on before we meet again. Towards the end of the session, we practiced making our own word problems to challenge her writing and math skills. Next week we will review her "Friday packet" which covers all the work she does in math during the week."
"We primarily went over parabolas, and then we discussed more details for her math project. For parabolas, we went over finding the maximum and/or minimum of a function, dealing with word problems that are in the form of a parabola, such as throwing objects, and estimating y values given a specific x value. I left the student with notes on how to plug in parabolic equations into her calculator to find maximums and minimums as well as how to look at the shape and axes of symmetry."
"We reviewed using derivatives to solve rate word problems. We addressed changes in volume and area, strictly numerical examples, and airplane speed. The relationship between variables was discussed. I also mentioned the way to handle units and preferred simplification strategies for these problems. The student caught on very quickly so she should be proficient in no time."
"Covered solving systems of equations using word equations and graphs. We also went over quiz corrections that included domain range and inequalities using number lines. We discussed the possibility of obtaining the class textbook as well as a graphing calculator which should help him tremendously for future exams/quizzes."
"The student has a quiz tomorrow and wanted to cover material that was to be assessed. We reviewed and worked problems covering both forms of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, the definite integral as area, integration by substitution, and Riemann sums. She has a good knowledge and understanding of the material."
"The student received a 93 on her algebra 2 exam. Today we examined her homework of systems of linear equations. Graphing inequality equations with composite functions to determine the local maximum and minimums. She also received an 86 on a chemistry exam."
"Today the student just needed some clarification on the meaning of the math in his last few assignments. He knew how to graph an inequality, how to graph an absolute value, and also how to translate a graph side to side or up and down. It seemed to help him to understand what the uses of this could be or what it might be preparing him for ahead. I think the most important things were the introduction of h and k and of the forms of functions in two variables."
"Today the student and I covered how to calculate the line from an absolute value graph, we also worked on graphing inequalities and worked through some of his homework problems."
