Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In our session, we began by reviewing direct object pronouns and stem changes e to ie. The student is getting a lot better at these. He made one mistake, but he was quick to correct himself. We then went on to practice new vocabulary on foods, placing an order at a restaurant, and transportation. I suggested that he create vocabulary words that include the Spanish word, the English translation, a picture, and the word in a sentence. This proved to be successful, as I drilled him on the words and he later corrected his own mistakes on his homework worksheets. I asked him to continue making flash cards for all of the vocabulary words, and to practice them in his spare time throughout the week."
"We covered types of preterite and comparisons of inequality. I saw good progress. I pop quizzed him on previous material and he got it. I didn't leave him with any practice."
"Spent the first session of the year reviewing everything covered last semester, including grammar, accent marks, pronunciation, and reading."
"We had conversational practice and also reviewed conjugations. I went over a lesson in a Spanish grammar book that demonstrated how to speak in the present tense, past tense, and the subjunctive of both of those tenses. The student has become much more comfortable with her Spanish. She just needs to keep working on including past tense in her vocabulary! Best of luck to her in the future!"
"This was my first tutoring session with the student. He is very bright and fast to catch on to concepts. He is struggling with Spanish Language and other assignments. He basically needs some help in organizing his activities in an orderly manner, and he wants to set up clear small milestones to be accomplished step by step. He was very receptive to the information reviewed, and I think we accomplished one of those goals. He has to catch up with his Spanish because he missed some classes, but he is smart and will be OK in the future. Currently, they are studying verbs in the present tense. He also needs some help in Physics, which we will get to this coming Wednesday."
"We went over passive voice and future and conditional perfect tenses, and we practiced using them from the book. I suggested that the student write down haber conjugations on her test before looking at the questions."
