Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was the first session of a new semester for the student. We began a new chapter study guide today and worked through the comprehension questions about nationalism and the unification of European countries in the late 19th century. We finished the study guide early and had time to review key terms and concepts."
"The student and I had a great session today! To start off, I gave her a packet I had made about various technological developments throughout European history. She can use this to supplement her textbook as she works on her big project about technology. After that, she requested that we spend our session reviewing the material from the past few chapters to help her prepare for an upcoming test. She and I talked through chapters on nationalism, imperialism, and WWI. I gave her a brief overview of the major events and players while she asked questions and explained what she remembered about each chapter. I think it was very helpful to take a step back and look at history from a broader lens. It's easy to get bogged down into the specifics of each chapter and today we got to see things in context. I think she is in great shape for her test!"
"We covered most of the 19th century this session. We started by working our way through the identification topics at the start of each chapter, reviewing the chapter, discussing two essay questions, and then answering some multiple choice questions for each topic. We reviewed the way two essay questions covering a similar topic. We then reviewed our ongoing list of problem topics. I assigned some multiple choice questions for homework, and received his essay."
"This session we discussed multiple choice questions, specifically good test taking practices and techniques that can be used to determine correct answers. The student has good knowledge of the subject but lacks test taking strategy. I did not assign any extra practice and I have no concerns."
"The student finished working on his History journals today, and he did great with them. He will put the finishing touches on it and e-mail it to me for review again tomorrow."
"The student completed lesson one of his weekly history homework and also completed an online reading assignment. Once we got going he read everything and answered all the questions correctly!"
