Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over the basics of setting up an outline for his next writing assignment. We also talked about the upcoming assignment and a bit more about using sources."
"The student worked on the next segment of her research project by conducting scholarly research and gathering data. She worked on an outline for her annotated bibliography and we discussed the next parts of the assignment."
"I proofread what the student had written thus far of her paper/assignment. We then went over ways to improve it, such as expanding certain sections and tweaking her introductory paragraph in order to better flow and meet the assignment's criteria. We reviewed where to place new/extended information within an already written paragraph."
"The concepts covered included finding the main ideas as well as summarizing. The student needed help with expanding on sentences, but made progress. Her attitude was great. I tried to push the idea to take notes as she reads, but I will push this idea more next time."
"The student and I continued to work on his use of evidence in writing pieces responding to a text. He is very good at looking back in the text and understanding what pieces of evidence will support his thesis, but sometimes he needs assistance embedding these quotes, examples, etc. into his writing. He likes to drop them in without fully explaining how they relate to his topic. This is something we will continue to work on next week."
"The student and I continued working on his final paper. He reported getting a higher grade on another assignment. There have been incremental signs of improvement. I am still working on instilling good writing habits."
