Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over a few more new Geometry proofs. She most definitely understands the gist of the new material. It's awesome to see the improvement in your work!!"
"Today we covered algebraic expressions again (simplifying and expanding expressions and also word problems with variables). The student received back his interim progress report and he has a 95% in math. He maintained a positive attitude throughout the session. I let him know how to solve the problems he got wrong, drew up some new problems, and he did significantly better. In terms of strategies or study skills, I let him know to plug a number in for the variable (even when it's just an expansion-type problem with a variable left in the whole time), then insert it into the final answer and see if they mirror each other."
"She completed her current homework which covers angles of elevation and depression. Then we started the Chapter 8 review since she will have her Chapter 8 exam next week. She seems to understand the material. I have no concerns about the session."
"Today we did problems on derivatives and using the definition of the derivative to differentiate functions at a certain point. We also briefly discussed analyzing functions using calculus and went over how the derivative characterizes a function being analyzed."
"We reviewed some optimization problems and some equations with exponents and logs. The student only needed to dust off some old concepts, and he was able to solve or to follow my solution for the many problems presented."
"We reviewed more work involving the chain rule, focusing on some of the more complicated combinations of using the chain rule and product rule together as well as the chain rule as applied to parametric equations. We also discussed implicit differentiation, particularly involving isolating 'y' when distribution is required."
