Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student's test is coming up, so we spent this session doing lots of practice problems -- we reviewed a practice set she did for HW, and then continued with practice problems. We did a lot of quantitative comparison and multiple choice questions; the student will continue to work on these while also completing a practice set of data interpretation questions. We will have just one more session before she takes her test next week. I believe the student will do very well on her test."
"We reviewed several practice tests on specific concepts including, roots, radicals, exponents, and other general concepts to ascertain the student's strengths and relative weaknesses. It was decided that for at least the next session or two, we will continue to focus on practicing general concepts. Once the student feels confident in her abilities in a few areas, they will move to solely focusing on the areas that cause more difficulty. The student was able to notice her mistakes on a few problems and go back and check over her answers without prompting from the tutor."
"We started today's session by reviewing functions and doing a large number of practice problems together. We then moved on to plane geometry, focusing particularly on areas and perimeters of circles, triangles, and other polygons. I introduced the distance formula briefly, and we devoted a few practice problems to applying that concept as well. The student and I both agree that he'll benefit most by doing as many practice problems as possible during the weekend and then meet with me on Monday for a final review of any problems or concepts he's still not sure about."
