"The student and I worked on some practice multiple choice questions that were given to him to review for his final. The topics that we focused on most were momentum, optics, and waves. He still has some trouble understanding the basics of centripetal force and acceleration. We spent a lot of time reviewing the motion of an object that is being rotated by a string in a circle. It can be difficulty to comprehend how gravity acts as a restoring force and how also the centripetal force applied by the string combines to give the overall force and acceleration of the particle. Also, we discussed the difference between real and virtual images associated with convex lenses. He faced some challenges in deciding how the position of the object relative to the focus determined the type of image that would be forms, its relative size, and its orientation. Lastly, we covered the basics of the Doppler effect and how it results in the change of both frequency and pitch of a sound wave by altering the wavelength."
"We discussed two class assignments. We began to review a third, and he will finish the rest on his own."
"The student and I reviewed cyclical motion, motion diagrams for cyclical motion, centripetal and centrifugal forces on banked and unbanked curves, and tangential speed."
