Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered the basics of geometry, including lines planes and their relationships. We also practiced some algebra and other math skills."
"Distributive property, reflexive, symmetric , transitive properties , supplementary angles, complementary angles, theorems and proofs based on above concepts. Reviewed the homework problems."
"Worked with both students on constructions with a ruler and compass. Also, worked ahead so they will understand better the material in school."
"The student had a study guide for his final that we reviewed. He mentioned that he struggled most with algebra, and fortunately there was lots of algebra in his study guide. There were even problems requiring solving two equations with two unknowns, which I found surprising, but he was able to do those problems after I showed him how to do them."
"We did more practice questions from the student's book, and she wrote down more relevant postulates/theorems that will help her understand and complete proofs more effectively. I know that she'll be able to do well on this test; the key is to approach each problem with a plan in mind to solve. For example, to prove two sides congruent, she most likely needs to prove that two figures are congruent."
"I continued to work with the student on exponential and logarithm functions to prepare him for his final, which will determine if he gets placed in a more advanced class next semester. Today I focused on logarithm functions: how to convert from logarithmic to exponential form and vice versa, how to evaluate logarithmic expressions, and logarithm properties and how to use them to expand or condense logarithms. Even though I am reviewing the material quickly, he is keeping up and answering practice problems correctly."
