Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered many biochemical topics based on proteins, nucleic acids, carbs and lipids. We also covered prokaryotic vs eukaryotic cells for bio. For math, we did inequalities and absolute value."
"At today's session, we covered a lot of ground. He has a test tomorrow, so we were basically doing a review. We covered topic including: types of macromolecules and their structure, monomers and polymers, carbohydrates and their structure and function, lipids and their structure and function, proteins and their structure and function, nucleic acids and their structure and function, types of chemical bonds (covalent vs ionic), periodic table and elements, valence electrons and types of reactions between chemical elements, and different nucleotides. He seemed to have a weak grasp of these subjects overall. I asked him some questions throughout the session, and he got some right but also some wrong. I could not identify one area that he was struggling with most. He was pretty scattered in terms of what he knew and did not know. I tried to cover everything on the review sheet his professor gave him. I assured him that for the next exam, we would start early, and I would be quizzing him intensely on the topics, to cement the material in his head. I also asked that he have questions ready for me by the next session, because that would show me that he has done the readings on his own, enough to formulate questions on the material."
"Covered concentrations, solvent/solute, osmosis, properties of water, heat vs. temperature, lab/pre-lab exercises, and sent "how to study" for macromolecules section because of test next week."
