"The student and I prepared for her test retake. I made up a set of practice problems, and we went through them one by one. Then I gave her a different set of problems and made it more like a test setting. She went through and answered the questions, and I graded it afterwards. She got all of the questions right on the 2nd test! I feel like she is very well prepared for her retake."
"We continued practicing for the student's test taking place tomorrow, so we continued with redoing the student's work for the chapter. The student did a great job, and I'm confident that he will do extremely well on his test. For more practice, I asked him to finish up the problems we didn't get to during the session."
"Went over an standard based assessment test that went over a variety of different skills that the student has learned over the year and he did very well on it. We spent some time with basic adding, multiplying, and dividing fractions to make sure that area was fine. Spent the last part of the session really getting into graphing to make sure that the mastery was there for that area."
"Today we worked on expressions with variables. Specifically, we worked on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with variables. These included variables with exponents as well as a combination of variables. The student did extremely well with these. They seemed to be easy for her. She is understanding the concepts of exponents and combining like terms. The only issue she seemed to struggle with today is when you have s^2 +s you must understand that even though they both have an s in them they are not like terms and cannot be combined."
"The student and I had a great last session together. I helped her prepare for her two-part final, which covered all the topics she had encountered in the class. We have already done a lot of free-response questions, so we focused mainly on the multiple-choice questions in her review packet. I gave her some strategies for how to approach this section, like eliminating answers one by one and plugging the answers into the original question. She has considerably improved her problem solving skills, but sometimes needs to review equations that aren't familiar to her. I have no doubt she will perform exceptionally on the final!"
"The student and I reviewed number relations with respect to conjunctive inequalities. He was struggling briefly with integers and plotting inequalities on a number line, however, we were able to clear up the problems he was experiencing with it. We then moved to force vectors and calculating the resultant force of two forces. We finished the session by covering graphing parabolas. He seems to have slight trouble with graphing points accurately, but we are working on it and he is improving steadily."
