Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was our last session. We reviewed Latin roots, and focused heavily on math. We reviewed the student's questions, and worked together on one section. For his SAT on Saturday, he should continue reviewing his Latin roots, and remember to take his time and read each math question carefully!"
"This was our first session after a long break, but I was still pleased to see the student's progress. She is recognizing patterns in the types of questions asked and improving steadily."
"The student and I went over basic strategies for identifying sentence error, sentence improvement, paragraph improvement, sentence completion, reading comprehension, and math multiple choice question types. We reviewed grammar points for the writing section, focusing on agreement, pronouns, and parallelism specifically. The student seems comfortable and competent with paragraph and sentence improvement as well as sentence completion. She has excellent reading skills but will benefit from repeated practice with reading questions. I think continued exposure to the sentence error identification problems will be equally beneficial. She seems to fully grasp the grammar points. We then started math. After covering the most basic and universal strategies for math, we started going through the problems, which essentially meant using each problem as a way to brush up on rusty math skills. We will continue refreshing these next session. We will also go over the essay. I have assigned one practice section in writing, reading and math to complete for Thursday."
