Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Yesterday, the student and I covered mathematics and reading, in addition to the science section. She's making steady progress. We learned the equation of a circle and several other formulas that will be instrumental in her improvement over the next few weeks."
"The student and I worked on ACT Math. We had a very good session and I look forward to our session next week."
"The student is preparing for the ACT. He seems quite strong in science reasoning, and that's something that could boost his overall score. I'm having him work straight through the 60-question math sections so that he can get his brain in gear for that kind of thing. (Math is his biggest issue, and his mother requested that we focus specifically on that.) Overall, the ACT math section is more hard-skills based than the SAT (which is more logic, problem-solving based), so we'll see how he does with recalling material from previous math classes. So far, I've noticed that he usually is able to recall material he'd thought he had previously forgotten with very little prompting. I am also seeing a slight issue with not knowing the most efficient ways to solve a problem, but after I explain a faster method, I see the light bulb go off for him. This will be important, as the ACT (like the SAT) gives students about a minute per problem."
