Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on ratios and calculating geometric means. We also reviewed Spanish vocabulary. New words revolved around the following themes: traveling (airport, hotel, transportation, camping, beach activities), weather descriptions, months of the year, seasons, and identifying different floor levels."
"Yesterday was my first session with the student. He had a test today so we reviewed for it. He had a large handout with problems including radicals, rational exponents, and complex numbers. We went through and did all the problems and talked about any questions he had."
"During our session, we completed the lesson regarding number lines and measurements. The student then took his quiz for that section and scored 100%. We next began the lesson that covered rays. He seems to be grasping the information very well. He is very good at visualizing the information once I explain it to him in terms of tangible things."
"We worked on the student's Geometry homework from the textbook over parallelograms and trapezoids. She had very little trouble with this. We then worked on some of her Chemistry homework on determining the type of chemical reaction (synthesis, single replacement, double replacement, decomposition, or combustion) and predicting the products of the chemical reactions."
"We spent the session going over the concepts of geometry from last session. We spent some time going over how the angles are related until he felt confident. I assured him that usually his first instinct is always right and he should stick with that and not doubt himself just because this is new material. I believe with this extra practice of the geometry concepts he has a better understanding of what's going on."
"Today we covered triangle theorems. The student did well this chapter. I also left extra practice so he can practice more."
