Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered U-Substitution from her 3rd exam review sheet today. This concept requires a lot of practice and even more mastery to identify it's situational use. By the end of our session she seemed very comfortable with U-Substitution application to solve integrals. We also saw a variety of problems today that require mini tutorials such as geometric derivation to solve integrals, numerical methods using rectangles in a finite space and producer/consumer surplus."
"Today we worked on one of the student's quizzes. This was a 20-problem quiz. The questions were related to relative extremes. The student did great in most of the problems. She sometimes rushes a bit, but we have worked on these issues so she can be prepared to do her midterm on Saturday."
"We covered pulley systems for Physics as well as Projectile motion. He recently got a 88 on a Physics test. No concerns."
"We covered normal distribution and percentile values extensively. Also, we covered set theory, involving union, intersection and complements of sets. She had a little trouble with the definitions, but not the calculations. I did not leave the student with any extra practice."
"Yesterday I met with the student for an extra long session to cover calculus in preparation for her final exam. We worked through review problems that she had prepared covering u-substitution, natural logarithms, separation of variables, and areas/volumes. This was a useful bit of review for her. She was very comfortable with the recent material but needed a bit of warm-up with the older material. I'm confident that she'll do well on tomorrow's exam."
"The student has a big test coming up covering volume by revolution, arc length, and polynomial series. Today we did a quick refresher to review all of the concepts and to go over the fundamental rules/strategies for each topic. I gave some background regarding each subject, going over simple derivations if necessary to help her understand the underlying logic. We made good progress today and we are meeting again on Thursday after she does some practice problems to go over any additional questions she may have. I also met briefly with the second student regarding his geometry homework. He had one difficult problem that he was unsure of, and I helped him figure out what he had to do to solve the problem."
