Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through some free response and multiple choice questions for the AP physics test. I think a few more sessions with the student before his actual test will be very helpful for him."
"We went over a lot of conceptual questions regarding torque, angular momentum, conservation of energy, etc. The student's most recent unit in class has been simple harmonic motion and waves. We went through the PowerPoint provided to him by his teacher and I cleared up confusions he had with the material."
"We spent the session reviewing algebra - simplifying/operations with rational expressions, and solving rational equations by multiplying by the LCM. She is doing very well with all of the types of problems, but sometimes mixed up what she was supposed to do at first - after I gave her an example, she was able to do the rest on her own. We ended with a mixture of problems."
"The student was reviewing questions and problems related to wave mechanics, sound, and simple harmonic motion. We covered some problems dealing with harmonics on strings and in pipes, the frequency, period, and amplitude of simple harmonic motion, and related topics."
"We have continued meeting repeatedly as the student's load of work has not eased. A math exam is tomorrow, and also a big physics take-home exam lures on the way. Continuity in the sessions have contributed to a good flow and has kept the student on her toes."
"The student and I went over induced problems that he had missed on a test. The student found the solutions to the test, and we worked through the problems that he had missed. In addition to solving the problems, the student and I talked a little about the units involved, and how they are associated. I am a big believer in keeping units in your calculations, so you know what each number means. I think the student follows this rationale as well."
