Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session, we completed the 5 pages of Calculus problems on derivatives and integrals. Of the problems the student had already completed, upon our review she completely understood the concepts and did all of the solving correctly. She did have questions on some of the problems, particularly questions 5 and 6. We worked through each of these problems together, and it seemed like she really understood the concepts and how to complete each problem once we did this. Overall I think she has a very good grasp on both integration and derivation; she should just make sure she continues to be attentive to each step to ensure that little math errors are minimized or eliminated completely. I told her to contact me with any additional questions or if another session will be needed."
"The student and I had a good session. She is continuing to study for her finals. We worked through another homework set in her chemistry class. This one dealt with equilibriums and acids and bases. We also talked about buffer solutions as well as a little bit of solubility."
"We reviewed the rules of differentiation and integration again. We then covered problems involving integration to find the area between 2 curves, both horizontally and vertically. We also covered word problems associated with net change integration problems, something that the student has been struggling with. I'm confident that she could do well in her calculus class. I hope that with more practice, she will gain more confidence and need less outside help."
"We started working with application of function of multiple variables and partial derivatives. The student shows a much higher level of confidence than several weeks ago. It will help him in the long run."
"Today, the student and I held our last session for her exam Friday. We worked through a practice exam for the whole time. The student knows most of the material quite well and I am confident she will do well on her test. It was great to have gotten to tutor her these past three months!"
"Today we discussed finding the volume of a solid of revolution. The student has a good general understanding of the concepts but needed more practice working through the details of the problems. His understanding has improved throughout the sessions and he has a positive attitude about the material reviewed."
