Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered many trig-related problems. The problems included angle of elevation, depression, and rotation word problems; finding all 6 trig functions given a particular point on the terminal side; finding reference angles; and determining which quadrant theta is in based on given information. We had an extremely productive session, and she was able to follow with everything that we were working on."
"We reviewed the unit circle today. The student has greatly improved. He knows and understands the angle measure in both radians and degrees, and he knows the sides and angles associated with 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles. After we finished the review, he wanted to redo some past homework problems that he did incorrectly. We worked on the problems together."
"In today's session, we covered using trigonometric identities to simplify expressions. We talked about when to apply a particular identity based on the form of the equation. The student was comfortable with this material overall, and after some practice was beginning to recognize when to apply a certain strategy. We worked on some of the problems his teacher provided and reviewed different solutions to the same problem in order to see how various techniques can be applied."
"Today, we covered the exam that the student recently got back. We were able to correct most of the problems and create a direction for questions for his teacher regarding the trickier problems. I am fairly certain that he will be able to do well on the make-up exam given that he is given the adequate time to complete it."
"Today's session with the student went well. We spent our time working on trigonometry, focusing on the beginning of writing equations from their graphs. The student did really well, and by the end, he seemed to have little trouble with it. He had a great attitude, like always."
"The student was working on an assignment involving vectors and determining the magnitude and direction when two vectors were combined. She had one worksheet filled with different examples, and we made it through most of them. She also had another worksheet that involved law of sines and law of cosines that she was almost done with, but needed help with a couple of them."
