Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on homework # 7 which is the last one for this class. It involved correlation and Pearson r statistic. Then we discussed the last sections of her final paper. We went over how to report limitations to the research and directions for future research."
"We reviewed conic sections and moved on to rational functions. He seems to have a good grasp on conics and should do fine on his test that he has coming up."
"During this session we went over another AP practice test consisting of short answer problems. It was pretty straight forward and consisted of much the same material as the last one we did. At this point it's largely repetition and practice for the next month before the AP exam. The student did great!"
"The student and I continue to work on math problems. As we prepare for his upcoming exam, I'm finding that he is excelling and starting to build confidence in the topic. We also had a chance to go over using his calculator. I look forward to meeting with him next week."
"The student and I continued to go through his older tests and quizzes and worked through the problems that he got wrong so he could to build on his knowledge of Algebra 2 material. When going over the older tests, he seemed to get the problems right with me there and not helping him through them which shows that he knows the concepts and material but needs to improve on his test taking skills which we will be focusing on. We also started Chapter 9, conic sections, which he will be learning after break. I feel this will be good going forward if he sees the material first with me, then in class and again when we meet after he learns it in class."
"We continued reviewing for the AP exam. The student had little trouble dealing with calculation and statistic computation. Her trouble came with understanding/remembering concepts and definitions. We reviewed definitions as we approached them in questions. I tried explaining the connections between definitions and the questions themselves and made the student use it to answer for herself. She was able to understand the questions after I went over them. We also reviewed a previous assignment to prepare her for an upcoming test which involved similar material. She takes the test on Tuesday."
