Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was a good session. The student received an email from his teacher containing a study guide for his upcoming Biology midterm. The study guide covers all the topics which he and I worked on this past term. I had him organize all his notes, online resources, documents, and home-works in different folders pertaining to the listed topics on the study guide. This way he can easily access all his resources for a given topic. Today we began reviewing Population Ecology. We both took turns reading sections and spent some time after each paragraph discussing/ summarizing the section. Each paragraph contains vocabulary. In the study guide, the last page contains over 120 vocab terms. He and I discussed that it would be best to create flashcards for these terms. He plans to create the flashcards after accomplishing each section. He told me that he will create a study schedule for himself, to accomplish one topic a day."
"Tonight the student and I reviewed goals that he would like to accomplish by the end of the semester in May. I also provided recommendations for how we can better manage our time for this next semester. For instance, we will be working more on note taking and using other strategies to ensure retention material. I will also be monitoring his binders to help with his organizational skills."

He diagrammed sentences well. He also was able to comprehend the main idea and supporting details of two short passages about an immigrant family. He was able to generalize and draw conclusions from the readings. He also executed equations that involved division without remainders. He also completed a science assignment that required he design a prototype for a jar opener. He formulated a very good prototype for a jar opener. Overall, he was productive during this session."

"The student had an extra credit assignment on using basic operations with integers. After reviewing that, I created some mixed number problems with and without common denominators for him to solve. He is getting faster at solving them. Then we worked on editing 3 sentence paragraphs that I created. He missed correcting a few spelling, capitalization, and punctuation mistakes. We will continue working on that next time."
