Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on higher levels of algebraic fractions and simplifying radicals today. She did a great job!!"
"The student and I covered Chapter 9 and half of Chapter 10 in detail. She is improving every week in her comprehension."
"We looked at how to find a line from two points. Also looked at word problems some more. Assigned polynomial division as homework."
"Today the student finished inequality homework and then we focused on review problems. We spent time on reviewing dividing by fractions, exponent properties, cross multiplication, and simplifying algebraic fractions. We ended the session reviewing problems on her old tests that could appear on her final test. I gave her two problems to fix on one of her tests that we will go over tomorrow."
"We worked on the student's final review for his algebra class . When we were done we went over some algebra review concepts in general. I left him with several examples and step by step strategies on how to approach the questions that I hope will get him successfully through his final. I think he will benefit strongly from continued work on his overall math sense."
"The student was working on simplifying polynomial ratios, including determining when they were undefined (which we talked about was when the denominator equaled zero) and simplifying rational polynomial expressions. We paid particular attention to how to simplify the difference of two squares and how to factor a quadratic polynomial, as well as selecting greatest common factors to factor out of the numerator and denominator of polynomial expressions. It was a lot for him to remember, and we will definitely practice more. I also suggested he do more problems from his class worksheet (where they only had to do the odds; I suggested also doing the evens). We then worked on an end-of-class project to describe various types of expressions and equations encountered during the class (inequalities, linear expressions, linear inequalities, and others). He seemed to take to this part very well."
