Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Grammar (Pronouns, Illogical Comparison, Parallelism); Math (Factoring). I also assigned the next practice test for next time."
"We went through some anatomy and physiology; oxygen exchange, circulation, endocrine system, and the nervous system. The student has to finish the chapter and do the questions at the end of the chapter."
"Today was my first session with the student. My general impression is that he is bright but just needs some tailored attention to critical reading and writing to score in the range he would like. We focused on critical reading today. Through working on the sentence completion questions together, I could see that, while his vocabulary is above par, it could be improved and would help him minimize the number of questions he answers incorrectly due to misinterpretation. I have emailed him vocabulary lists out of which I've suggested he create flash cards. Following the sentence completion questions, we turned to passage-based reading questions. He was able to work through about two passages and their related questions in 30 minutes, so timing is another aspect of his SAT testing performance that will require attention. Tomorrow, we will finish the passage-based reading questions, and I will administer an essay prompt to gauge where he stands with respect to the writing section."
