Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a test coming up in geometry and had a packet of proofs using properties of parallel lines and angles she wanted to work on, so we went through the packet and did a lot of the proofs. We also looked for practice problems that the teacher might put on the test, and worked on a number of problems where you find the measure of a number of angles in a figure using different properties of parallel lines."
"Corrected mistakes on quiz. Finished homework due tomorrow. Corresponding angles alternate exterior angles alternate interior angles vertical angles. More proof writing."
"We covered the ratios of 30, 60, and 45 degree angles for a right triangle. We also covered Pythagorean theorem and how it applies to right triangles."
"Today our discussion and work was centered around the relationship of lines and angles, perpendicular, parallel, and how to prove and use these relationships to discover information about the lines themselves or the angles they form at their points of intersection. The student has had had a great attitude and seems to be feeling more confident about the material she missed. I think she feels confident to finish the review assignment by herself. Her improved confidence I feel was a big win from today's session."
"In today's session, we focused on proofs and properties of triangles and parallel lines. The proofs are tricky and can very convoluted, but the student did well with them and we will continue to work on this next week. I also was very impressed with how well she did with congruent triangles. We were able to discuss three separate homework assignments, and she completed most of the problems with little to no help from me. As with the proofs though, we will continue to work on these kinds of problems so she will be comfortable before her next exam."
"We covered a test review worksheet. The material included determination of heading, direction, and magnitude of vectors. These were found using the law of sine and cosine. The student understood the process for solving this type of problem and correctly answered the questions. She is well prepared for her test. We also worked on an ACT test prep worksheet. She needed help with remembering how to factor polynomials, radicals, and exponents. We went through the examples and explanations. I asked that she practice more problems of this type."
