Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Conducted a review of Chapter 17 that included standard error, marginal error, standard deviation of a population, normal distribution modeling, and expected mean value. We also reviewed terms and key aspects of definitions for assumptions and conditions. Completed practice and overview for 19 in preparation for upcoming quiz. Chapter 19 included focus on the t-statistic and confidence interval. I also conducted how to translate the calculations in the condensed method via steps within the calculator keystrokes and the expanded method via hand-written calculations for one tailed interval."
"Both girls were struggling with word problems containing fractions and whole numbers. We practiced several of these to ensure that both girls understood how to work the problems independently. After, we worked on a little bit of science including finding volume and density."
"Today, the student and I focused on graphing rational functions. He had already covered vertical asymptotes, x- and y-intercepts, and come horizontal asymptotes in class, so we started by working through some example problems involving those concepts. He had a good grasp of those types of problems, so we moved on to the more advanced problems involving horizontal asymptotes other than y=0 and slant asymptotes."
"The student and I focused on reading comprehension today. We discussed the meaning of author's purpose and read through texts to find if the author wanted to inform or entertain. We listed details to support answers. We read a fable and looked for examples to support the student's idea of the moral of the story. We also broke down sequence of the story."
"The student and I went over one step and two step word problems. We will continue next time. She is doing really well when there is addition in the word problems, however when there are different steps and different addition and subtraction steps that need to be made she struggles. We are going to keep practicing it!!!!"
"The student did an amazing job today. We did a math placement assessment to locate her areas of strength and areas of need. Her areas of need will be worked on starting Tuesday. She will be working on fluency and accuracy of adding and subtracting numbers from 1-10 and 10-20 using sprints and word problems and writing number sentences."
