Tutoring review by Lora in La Palma, CA
The student was mostly finished with his math packet and had only 1 page left in his science. So we worked on the remainder of his math packet (these were dividing with decimals in word problems - he did a great job with a few reminders), then completed 4 questions on his science packet (the science packet was a close reading, then involved questions about the reading - he needed a few reminders to go back and re-read the paragraphs, but he did a great job completing it!). He is now finished with all of his math and science for break and only has to complete his reading. He did a great job! He is very positive and even turned math homework into a game where he and I competed for "lottery points" by answering questions faster (this was all his idea!)

We made good headway into continuing to work through the partnership tax return assignment. The student is extremely bright and diligent and is really understanding the concepts and methodology - we now need to put it all together.

Tutoring review by Meleigh in La Palma, CA
We began by getting a basic overview of where our focus needs to be over the course of our sessions. He has a good understanding of operations, so our overall focus is going to be laying a groundwork and map so that with each type of problem we encounter, we have a good starting place. Our focus for this evening was going over his last exam and covering each question in as much detail as necessary to lay a solid foundation for similar questions in the future, including the questions he got correct on the exam. Additionally, we began creating our reference book to highlight definitions, certain problem types, and examples that he can reference as needed.

Tutoring review by Elise in La Palma, CA
We started with organization. The student organized his binder and placed items in their appropriate spot. He had a few papers in his backpack. I stressed the importance of keeping them in their spot. Next, we worked on homework, starting with science and ending with vocabulary. He had already started some of it in class. He then read his silent reading book and logged in a few entries into his "B.A.R.F" log. He read about 30 pages in his book. He also worked on homework that is due later in the week. We are working on getting ahead and prioritizing his time.

Tutoring review by Arielle in La Palma, CA
The student and I started off by reviewing his math homework that went over multiplying a 3 or 4 digit number by a 1 digit number. After completing this, we discussed his spelling homework and reviewed some spelling patterns such is "i.e." turning to "y" when adding an "ing." Finally, we ended by playing a fluency computer game.
