Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Since the student had been on break, we spent the session working on basic underlying translation skills such as recognizing grammatical forms and matching forms with cases and case usages. We practiced with translations from the early chapters of the her book. She developed a pretty decent understanding of the parts of a sentence and did some excellent translating."
"The student did 10 lines of his translation for class. Though I had to provide a lot of the vocabulary (much of it was new to the chapter) the student did well on this. We then reviewed the passive voice and relative purpose clauses. The student did about 10 practice sentences using this grammatical construction. We discussed the Roman Forum and the geography of the city. For English, we briefly discussed the student's recent paper (I suggested he could bring in Plato's Republic Book VIII to the comparison of governments that he makes) and reviewed his vocabulary list."
"This session, the student and I worked on translating Latin to English. We worked via his book, outlining how to use the index and certain key chapters from this book. He did great!"
