Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed student's last test on probability in which he received a score of 74 (29.5/40). Reviewed problem assigned last week 10 questions each with 5 answers, 1/5 right & 4/5 wrong, provide the probabilities of 1 right, 2 right, all 10 right). Student seems to have good understanding of concepts but sometimes has difficulty focusing and staying positive"
"I completed the math homework with the student and since he has a test coming up, I reviewed the materials on Function. I did examples on solving for the equations, complete the tables for numbers coming in/out. I also covered domain & range for the functions. I gave him a quiz on all the material to check his comprehension."
"Planned Topics: Review for makeup exam, Introduce New Unit on Circles Covered Topics: SohCahToa, Trig and inverse trig functions, Law of Sines, Law of Cosines, Word Problem strategy & test strategy Next Session: TBD Recommended Homework: Replace Calc-battery, Pass the Test with Flying Colors Cami has good long-term memory and a few examples quickly brought our work from last week rushing back to her. This session went very well, and I am glad she now has a calculator that can do the inverse trig functions she needs to take on the test. We finished her review materials and she is ready to take on her makeup exam. Notes: No concerns whatsoever."
"We covered maximization and minimization problems. The student struggles with the word problems. The concepts are new for her and practice will help. The most difficult part seems to be to create an equation from the given information. She received instruction on strategies to pursue to create a differentiable equation."
"We began reviewing for the final exam. We first went over basic word problems involving trig functions. The student was able to pick up the technique after one example and had little trouble mastering it. We then went over angle construction and conversion. He had the conversion rates between radians and degrees mixed up, so I provided the formulas to help him out. We ended the session constructing a cheat sheet for memorizing sin/cos of common angles. He takes the test on Friday."
"We did some preparation for the student's final. The majority of the session was focused on working with the first derivative, tangent lines, and limits. We also spent a great amount of time working on how to illustrate and interpret graphs analytically. She seems to be grasping graphing well, but has some problems with limits. We are planning to meet again one final time before her test to finish studying the material."
