Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on turning words into equations. The student struggled with this and I gave him more practice to do. We also worked on mixture and average problems, both of which I left him with practice problems on."
"Today, the student had some work to do with dilation of graphs. He learned that dilations greater than 1 increase the size of a graph, while a dilation between 0 and 1 decreases the size. We will move on to other topics after we get done preparing for his next exam."
"Tonight we worked on a homework involving dividing fractions using multiplication. The student was confident, and solved the problems with ease and accuracy. We went back to review how to turn improper fractions into mixed numbers. We then worked on multiplying mixed numbers."
"We went over a wide variety of material in preparation for the student's upcoming test, including optimization problems, Riemann sums, and definite and indefinite integrals. We also talked about the concepts that underlie integral calculus."
"We mainly went over how to find maximums, minimums, and points of inflection of functions. The student seemed to do well in understanding the first derivatives but was struggling at first to understand the second derivatives. I worked on teaching him how to interpret second derivatives and what points of inflection are. He seemed to improve in his knowledge of second derivatives by the end of the session."
"We focused on definite and indefinite integrals this time. The student had questions about using 'u' substitution, so we worked many problems involving those. She is getting a very good grasp of the information. We will probably work next Tuesday."
