Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered metabolism and some cell basics. The student demonstrated knowledge of ATP, and I think she is ready for her quiz."
"The student and I reviewed a macromolecules project she is working on. We planned out the project so she can complete it by making 3D models at home."
"The student had some questions to work on based on his case study. He worked on the analysis questions and he seemed to be doing OK with it. He is going to work on his vocab and we will work on getting him used to using more scientific words, as well as improving his spelling in general."
"The student and I met for this session at her family's home. We began by reviewing material from her class that her teacher had handed out during the previous week, including slide decks from class. The big topics this week were genetics and inheritance, and so we looked at previous note cards that used terms from these units (i.e. heterozygous, homozygous, recessive, dominant). The student informed me that she had a test coming up, and I recommended using these cards as a way to practice beforehand. Next, The student and I practiced completing Punnett Squares of both single and dihybrid crosses. We concluded the session by answering questions from some of my previous quizzes and tests."
"We reviewed the student's study worksheet for her upcoming Spanish test. She is doing well with memorizing the different dramatical rules and how to apply them to different words to create sentences. However, she continues to have difficulties memorizing basic vocabulary and needs to be told multiple times what the meaning of various words are before she can use them to create a sentence. She has however, continued to improve and it will likely show on her upcoming test."
"Today we finished reviewing for the student's biology exam tomorrow. Compared to a few weeks ago, she did extremely well in recalling the information correctly. She was able to recognize the steps of important reactions, such as photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and DNA replication, and define most of her terms for genetics, evolution, and other topics. It has been a pleasure working with her; I wish her the best of luck in her exam tomorrow and beyond!"
