Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We looked at the student's homework assignment to write in an unfamiliar place. We worked on keeping consistency and connection of topic sentence throughout the essay."
"During this session, the student successfully completed one of the many essays she must draft to submit along with her college applications."
"We reviewed where we left off with the last session. I had the student create an essay in response to an article regarding a court case in TX, and she was forced to take an opinion in agreement with the judge's ruling, and utilize 2 short articles to back it up with evidence. Reviewing a diagram she created mapping different sections of the essay, she began putting paragraphs together as we read, reviewed, and revamped. She struggled with finding the best words to express herself a few times, and said it was very hard to complete all parts of an essay of an opinion she was in great opposition to. After working through the wording of a few sentences and paragraphs, I read a very short excerpt to a famous and highly expressive, passionate speech by Martin Luther King Jr. We then switched gears and began planning a second essay to the same article, and this time, she was to write about her personal opinion of the situation. Quite a few more topics and specific evidence came out during this round. Her homework was to finish creating points complete with multiple pieces of evidence to later begin building the sections of her new essay."
