Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we did a comprehensive review on basic math concepts. It seems as if the student understands the concepts but has trouble identifying them when presented in a different format. I will keep working on this skill and until then I have assigned him the usual homework."
"The student and I finished covering arithmetic tonight. I taught him how to work with square roots, and he grasped the concept very quickly. We also reviewed probability and percents, and he needs more practice with word problems and the steps to find the answer, but he understands the concept. He is still trying to process information too quickly which leads to errors, but as I've said, he's aware and, after making an error, slows down."
"The session started with a review of previously taught concepts. The student continued to show mastery for those skills. Test taking strategies for the following concepts were taught and reviewed: multiplying multi-digit numbers; order of operations, multiplying by powers of ten, multiplying and dividing fractions, and equations. The strategies discussed were elimination, rounding, cross simplification, and guessing based on the reasonableness of an answer. We practiced sample questions from the database to prepare for her upcoming assessment. The student was upbeat and active for the entire session. She also showed mastery for all concepts introduced."
