"We briefly went over the paper that she had been working on. We discussed edits, both grammatical and otherwise, that I had made and general notes about essay writing. She was excited to be done with the paper and felt good about turning it in! I gave her some suggestions of grammar and syntax to watch out for as she writes. We also went through and made corrections to a quiz that she did less than well on. She will submit it to get an averaged grade for the quiz. I am writing up a document to help her with knowing when to use the pronoun "en." It was really helpful to talk through each missed question, and I gave the student some suggestions for double checking her answers for these sorts of grammar quizzes in the future. She mentioned the initial grade she got on the quiz."
"Today we started off with a short review and then we dived into phonetics. She did very well on her review which I was most pleased with. When we began the phonetics, she seemed to understand it all. We will have to continue to practice her phonetics so it becomes second nature."
"We started the session by looking at the student's writing assignment. He chose to write a short poem. I suggested we look at some of the poems written in French by T. S. Eliot. I found one online and asked him to read it out loud. All the verbs are in present tense. I suggested that we should try to translate it into English, and his homework is to get started. Then we began our work on the future tense. We are going to go through all ten of our target verbs. Today we started with parler, but before conjugating the future tense, we reviewed parler in all three of the tenses we have already worked on: present, imperfect, and passe compose."
