Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent a vast majority of the day formatting and writing a letter. The student's aunts were arriving the following day, and he wanted to surprise them by reading the letter he wrote to them. It ended up being great fun, and the student knew precisely what he wanted to say. I helped him with spelling, punctuation, and pronunciation for when he reads it out loud. We finished the session with some easy reading. We swapped reading every other sentence."
"This session, I helped the student prepare for upcoming work for his Spring semester. The student and I worked on vocabulary for upcoming units 9 and 10. There will be 20 essential vocabulary words for each unit. The student was given definitions from the English website. I presented the vocabulary and the student copied the words and definitions down. The student and I also covered the first half of chapter 1 of the play "Fences", by August Wilson. The student will be covering this book over the course of the next month and the student will be quizzed on its content, characters and themes. The student asked questions about the story and I clarified the first part of the story line."
"The student's book report is due on today. Therefore, during yesterday's tutoring session, I reviewed her rough draft. In order to assist her, I also made suggestions on how to improve her essay."
