"We went over the student's last exam, and I helped him understand his errors. We also went over algebraic and geometric series summations."
"Today we went over logarithmic and exponential functions and their derivatives. We worked through a practice test which covered all of the topics of the chapter. In particular, we looked at the product rule with regards to derivatives. The student did very well with problems that utilized the product rule. I did notice that sometimes she gets a little caught up in following all the derivatives through particularly when multiple rules (i.e. product, quotient, chain, etc.) are used in a single problem. I suggested, especially with the product rule, that she write down the initial function and then its derivative to the side so she could easily reference it when proceeding through a long string of functions. This seemed to help her out in keeping things organized. We also did problems involving finding the derivative of lnx and e^x functions. She had no issues with the e^x derivatives; she was a little hesitant on the logarithmic functions, but that was just due to the fact that she hadn't yet memorized the general rules. Overall, she did well with this set of topics. I did suggest to her to take her time in reading the problem and verify that she understands what the question is asking for and then take a couple seconds to write down the known variable so that she is certain of what the unknown is she is looking for."
"We studied material for the second part of her test that was scheduled to be taken on Tuesday, which consisted of vector analysis."
"We covered some of the more troubling topics that stumped the student on the exam: trigonometric functions and their values along the unit circle, operations of those trig functions, using trig identities to manipulate trigonometric functions, obtaining graphical and numerical data from trig functions, as well as learning about vector projections. He understood the material that was reviewed today, and I think that if he were to see it on a test again after today, he would have no problems with it."
"We started off doing a quick review of what the student's learned so far about vectors, even going a bit ahead of her class, but then we spent the last 2/3 of the session working through kinematics in 2 dimensions problems."
"We talked about the student's homework on functions and specifically how to find domain and range. We had covered this in some detail last time and went through a refresher this time with an added topic in asymptotes. We also talked about how to identify polynomial functions. She asked questions that had come up during her class as well."
