Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I had a good first session today. We practiced fractions and word problems for his test on Friday. He has an excellent understanding on the material and is very talented at mental math!"
"We prepared for the student's test tomorrow by going over topics that will be covered. This includes: completing squares, the quadratic formula, discriminants, roots, substitution, and graphing. We also reviewed his third test as well."
"The student is working on quadratic equations, how to find its parts, and how to find an equation from a set of points. We worked on the standard form of a quadratic equation, finding the line of symmetry, finding the vertex, and whether it's a minimum or a maximum."
"Today we covered the basics of exponential functions, along with population modeling and half lives. We reviewed some basic principles of logarithms and exponents and how to find an exponential equation given two points (or given a story that can be equated to two points). The student picked it up pretty quickly."
"We covered solving two step equations.
I left the student with some practice problems from a website.
No concerns noted."

"We did divisibility properties, with a focus on the 7's. Also did long division of hundreds and thousands, as well as how to correctly check the answer using multiplication. Did practice problems from worksheet and questions that we made up together. Discussed the difference between prime & composite numbers. Briefly covered blood flow/heart for science class."
"We went through her planner to see if she's applying the organizational skills we discussed last week (which she started to do). This week we worked on her geometry assignment mostly, as well as studying for upcoming social studies quizzes. We talked about different tools to help with memorization and how to regularly keep studying the words."
"This session focused on identifying prime and composite numbers, performing prime factorization, and finding a greatest common factor. The student was able to list factors of both prime numbers and composite numbers and could create a "tree" to determine all prime factors of a given number. The student did very well with these subjects. Overall she seemed to have a solid understanding of the concepts covered."
"The student had just covered imaginary number and adding/subtracting complex numbers in class today. We started by working through some of her homework. She had a very good understanding on these concepts. After this, she wanted to work ahead on the material for the next couple of classes. So, I taught her how to multiply and divide complex numbers along with rationalizing the denominator. She caught onto these very quickly. At the end, we worked through three word problems that involved showing one complex number was equal to another value."
"As always, the student and I had a very productive session! We worked on multiplying numbers with multiple digits, as well as with decimals. She clearly had a quality understanding of these concepts, as displayed her excellent completion of her homework and satisfaction in her quarter grade. I look forward to working with her again soon!"
"We covered trigonometric identities and their use in simplifying equations and solving for x. We prepared for her test retakes by reviewing the two tests she had gotten back previously. We focused on using the Unit Circle to solve equations and to find multiple angles for a given value of sinx, cosx, or tanx. I gave her practice problems to do on paper and also links to website resources to do additional practice. She is definitely improving and these types of problems are coming much more easily to her."
"We went over a few problems she had previously done for homework. We created a dictionary of terms, complete with examples and diagrams. The student was having so much fun doing it that she continued after our session was done and will be showing her teacher tomorrow!"
