Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the results of her verbal diagnostic. She is becoming comfortable with her choices and not talking herself out of the correct answer. She is improving with practice. We reviewed the results from her reading diagnostic. She has brought her reading score up from the 70 percentile to the 90 percentile. We will start timing the reading and verbal next week and work on writing."
"I met with the student for the first time for her test prep. She is very intelligent and energetic, and is actually teaching herself to program through an online program. Her weaknesses, according to herself and her mother, are her writing skills, specifically organization and coherent structure. I reviewed some basic essay structure with her and gave her a writing prompt to work on. Her writing is actually very creative and descriptive. She just needs to spend a bit more time editing the final product, which I encouraged. We also spent time on the reading comprehension and math, which she scored above 75th percentile on (only missing 1 out of both practice tests)."
"We began the session by working on a sample essay with the topic "A New Year's Resolution for NYC". The student is getting better at understanding the intention of the introduction and conclusion. We worked on some corrections with eliminating redundant phrases/statements and improving the overall flow of the essay. We then moved on to some additional practice problems focusing on percentages, ratios and algebraic expressions. The student did an excellent job with these problems and has greatly improved with these concepts. We ended the session with a review of his vocab deck."
