"The student and I continued module "six" of geometry. Today we worked on a very long busy-work project where we found a satellite image of his school and created a to-scale map on a coordinate grid. We then calculated the slope and distance of every single line on the scale image of the building. Last, I gave his guidance as he wrote a report on the project."
"He is a smart student who struggled with the sines, cosines, and tangent functions. We covered the section that deals with above functions, and the student understands how to set up the problem and solve it. Our next meeting will be next Monday at 4:30 pm."
"The session went very well. The student and I went over review for his upcoming quiz on tangents, special right triangles and word problems based on trigonometry. He needs to continue working on setting up word problems without prompting in order to improve his critical thinking skills. I look forward to our next session."
"Today we covered a chapter on circles. We covered basic definitions of the points on the circle, inside the circle, outside the circle, and proofs about lines from the center of the circle to the midsection of a chord. I went over three theorems with the student. By the end of the session, she seemed comfortable with the concepts."
"We covered and practiced utilizing the area of all polygons formula A= 1/2(ap) along with using diameter to calculate area and other aspects of a circle. The student just needed more practice with the concepts that she had recently learned in class. She was attentive and alert throughout the entire session. We went through her class notes one section at a time and she did several problems practicing each topic. She scored a 72% on her last exam an entire grade improvement over the 60% average of her test before we started working together!"
"I had the student complete her classwork that she student did not finish. The work consisted of proofs, that required students to use theorems that they have learned throughout the year. We also worked on the student's homework. The homework required students to use the midpoint, distance and slope formulas. The student was comfortable using these formulas."
