"1st evaluation of the student : He is advanced level. He needs to go over conjugation, grammar and vocabulary. We need to review past tense. His writing is very good also. His oral expression and comprehension are very good. His reading level is very good as well."
"The student and I went over a wedding toast he had written in English that he wanted to say in French for his soon-to-be French daughter-in-law. After translating his speech in French, we read it out loud one at a time, and discussed some editing points. He had a little trouble pronouncing certain words, so I suggested writing a version of the toast in a phonetic way, that would help him with his pronunciation. He had prepared a long speech and felt a little intimidated to say it all in French. Since the first two paragraphs had many inside jokes, I suggested it might be better to say the first half of the toast in English and the second half in French. He liked the idea and we went on focusing on the second half of his speech. As he was practicing, I gave him some mnemonics to help him memorize the right pronunciation and typed in the notes he had taken for a final edit so he could practice on his own before our next session."
"Today we worked on writing, specifically about social media, with 4 different prompts. The writing was regarding problems as well as advantages, and how it affects her life personally, as well as hypothetically the student's children's lives. We practiced saying things in clear concise ways and using words we know, but also some new vocab to have on hand."
"First, in this session we reviewed some vocabulary about health she had to learn for the next day. I added vocabulary about the body. Then we made dictation exercises, because she has to improve her writing skills for the part of the assessment test in which she will have to write a paragraph about a specific topic. For the next sessions, we will focus on writing until she takes the test."
