Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued working on solving equations with correct methods. We continued adding more levels of difficulty to each algebra problem to help the student understand how to properly solve all types of problems without having any limitations. We were able to do some great fine tuning."
"Exam review: Parabolas, hyperbolas, circles and ellipses. Finished homework problems regarding the chapter review."
"The student has her final exam tomorrow, so most of my time tonight was spent with her. We worked on practice problems from some review packets she'd been given. She was overall quite solid; I expect that she will do well on the exam. I then worked with the other student for about 25 minutes. She is also preparing for her final exam, which is not until next week. She had some specific questions from a review packet, but was confident that she will be well prepared for the exam by the time the class finishes their review days."
"The student and I worked on her math review packet that dealt with systems of equations, surface area, and volume. She understands how to solve systems of equations, but she doesn't quite grasp the meaning of the solution. She is, however, a pro at calculating surface area and volume. We will continue to work on this until she is able to master the skill."
"The student has a test coming up Tuesday that will be over about half of the same material from her last test. We completed about 3/4s of a test review worksheet this evening. We have another session scheduled Monday before the Tuesday test."
"We picked up where we left off in our last session and finished up a couple questions in chapter two before moving on to chapter three. Chapter three was the first chapter where algebra really became relevant and introduced graphing so the student didn't have too much trouble there. There were a few skills that were definitely a good idea to review as well as some terminology that she'd forgotten. We spent the session applying new knowledge to graphing so she could see the tie ins and work with greater efficacy. We also worked on some word problem since those had also been one of the student's areas of difficulty, and she did very well."
