Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I did an ACT assessment, talked about strategies, "what" the ACT test is, and time management. We reviewed some grammar rules for English and for Math we reviewed about 10 math skills needed for the test."
"The student and I almost finished reviewing her EOC packet. We went back over mitosis/meiosis/the definitions related to Mendelian genetics, food webs, experimental set ups, mutations and central dogma. We spend the most amount of time reviewing central dogma because of the confusion that can arise from the similarities between the words "transcription" and "translation". She did a great job explaining back to me how these processes worked and we drew pictures to help reinforce the main concepts."
"The student and I prepped for her physics midterm. We worked with metric conversions, velocity, acceleration and force. She did an excellent job! She seemed to really understand the material, especially the conversions."
"The student and I reviewed double and triple-digit addition, single-digit subtraction, and geometry (i.e. identifying shapes and figures). We also practiced spelling words for her spelling test on Friday, all of which she had mastered by the end of the session."
"We continued working on a few more essays. We made little corrections and brainstormed ways to improve on them. We agreed that two essays were ready to be submitted. The student will continue to improve upon some of the essays on her own."
"During this session, we worked through the details of implementing Mateo's latest lab (#7). He needed some help with basic syntax topics, though with patience, he was able to understand what we were working through. The specific content of the lab's focus was polymorphism and (partially) reading in from a file for the purpose of dynamically allocating subclass types."
